“It must be 400 years old. We’ve got a beam that’s as old as the barn. The rest is new but apparently in the storm of 1987, some oaks came down in the Ashridge Estate so some of the barns have got oak from those trees in them too.”
In keeping with that local connection, the owners have employed craftsmen from the surrounding area to make improvements to their home. They had a hand-made oak kitchen put in and employed a local blacksmith to add some striking features to the sitting room.
