Cobwebs Cottage – Styling your property to sell

Imagine a quintessentially English cottage surrounded by soft rolling hills in a pretty fold of the valley, a small hamlet of homes with a quaint local pub for lazy summer lunches, roaring fires to warm you after long walks in the forest and you could be sitting in the gardens of Cobweb Cottage in Frithsden, a peaceful outdoor life a million miles away from the stress and strains of city living just a step back to the simple pleasures of live.

These beautiful old properties are becoming ever popular with our clients and finding the perfect cottage has become a quest for the carefree country lifestyle where day to day life takes on a slower pace, possibly explaining the revived attraction of these rural properties. We often talk about the character of a period property in our descriptions and Cobwebs does not disappoint with beams and open fireplace. However this pretty country cottage is not only comfortable and inviting, it also has a lot of practical features and a lot going for it in the way of design too. The entrance hall has been opened up and is so roomy it’s effectively used as another reception room.

Cobwebs  had been extended when the current owner moved in, a welcome and modern addition to this traditional cottage design, blending seamlessly and creating a larger living space which is both practical and really opens up the cottage,  with light filled rooms one of which is a generous sitting room with a huge open fireplace  with log burner and French doors out onto the garden.  A charming kitchen awaits and automatically you feel the need to perch next to the Aga with a cup of coffee and catch up with friends around the breakfast table. The old quarry floor tiles were re-laid and the whole room has a rustic yet functional appeal. There is also a useful utility room.

The traditional rustic country theme continues upstairs with a fresh neutral palette where you can find three good sized bedrooms and a family bathroom with a free standing tub and stripped wooden floors. It’s like stepping back in time sitting in the gardens that surround Cobwebs. Enclosed by idyllic English countryside this pretty softly planted garden has so many areas to stop and stare you finally understand the great fascination and love of an English garden as described in the poems of Shaw.

Cobwebs may dwell in this glorious English countryside on the edge of the beautiful Ashridge National Trust Estate with over 5000 acres of woodland to roam, however, its links to road and rail are close by. The market town of Berkhamsted is just moments away with a bustling High Street and Station with fast and frequent trains into London Euston. Apart from the excellent gastro pub the Alford Arms which we mentioned earlier, Frithsden even has its own Vineyard producing fine local wines and two renowned golf courses Berkhamsted and Ashridge.
